FICCI, MoT & BIS team up for India’s 6th Technical Textiles Conclave

After the successful completion of five editions of the National Conclave on Standards for Technical Textiles, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) jointly with the ministry of textiles (MoT) and Bureau of India Standards (BIS) is organising the 6th edition of the conclave on July 25, 2023, at the FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi.

A considerable progress has been made in development of standards on technical textiles since the first conclave. The conclave acts as a catalyst for the formulation of the latest standards and an excellent discussion forum for the latest standards in the area, the FICCI, MoT, and BIS said in a joint press release.

Rachna Shah, secretary, MoT, shall address the delegates and Pramod Kumar Tiwari, director general, BIS, has also agreed to address the delegates. Brig Ashish Gambhir, VSM, deputy director general (PP & C), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), shall address the delegates in ‘Special Session-2 GeoTech, BuildTech, and OekoTech: Standards and Regulations’.

The primary objective of the conclave is to discuss and understand the state of play in the standardisation of technical textiles and the way forward. The conclave will also look at the Quality Control Orders (QCOs) which have been issued and which are in the process of being notified shortly as well as mapping of the Harmonised System of Nomenclature (HSN) codes with standards and QCOs.

The conclave will encompass all the 12 areas of technical textiles. Participation is invited from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD), Border Security Force (BSF), BRO, Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), National Highway Authority Of India (NHAI), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Preventive Wear Manufacturers Association of India (PWMAI), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), National Committee on Plasticulture Applications in Horticulture (NCPAH), International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), Horticulture Commission, and others among the user industries, members from research institutes and academia, and also industry members from all the prominent manufacturers of technical textile products.
