Teijin has signed a joint development agreement with an Australian venture, AEV Robotics (AEV). In the first two years, the companies will develop elemental technologies for the envisioned vehicle. Teijin Frontier, Teijin’s fibres and products converting company, has made polishing pads that are expected to enhance silicon wafer quality control while also lowering production costs. The new silicon pads are made with nonwoven Nanofront ultra-fine nanofibre, which is made with a flexible, water-absorbent polymer, impregnated with polyurethane resin.

The Teijin Group will display a wide variety of high-performance composite products at JEC World 2019, the annual exhibition that will take place this year from March 12 to 14 in Paris. The composite solutions to be displayed include Sereebo which is the world’s first mass-production technology for carbon fibre-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP).

Teijin Ltd has agreed to acquire Renegade Materials Corporation (Renegade), a leading North American supplier of highly heat-resistant thermoset prepreg for the aerospace industry. The acquisition is anticipated to be completed this spring after receipt of regulatory approvals. Later Renegade will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teijin.
