Textile Clothing for UV Rays

Written by:

UVfabric is clothing specifically designed for sun protection and is producedfrom a fabric rated for its level of ultraviolet (UV) protection. A novelweaves structure and denier may produce sun protective properties. In addition, some textiles and fabrics employed in the use of sun protective clothing may bepre-treated with UV inhibiting ingredients during manufacture to enhance theirUV blocking capacity.

Anumber of fabrics and textiles in common use today need no further UV-blockingenhancement based on their inherent fiber structure, density of weave, and dyecomponents - especially darker colors and indigo dyes. Good examples of thesefabrics contain full percentages and/or blends of heavy weight natural fiberslike cotton, linen and hemp or light- weight synthetics such as polyester, nylon, lycra and polypropylene.

Assun protective clothing is usually meant to be worn during warm and humidtemperatures, some UV-blocking textiles and clothing may be designed withventilated weaves, moisture wicking and antibacterial properties to assist incooling and breathability.

Thebest technique for reducing UV exposure is to avoid sun exposure, but this isan unacceptable solution to all. This necessitates the development of strongerUV absorbers which are highly preferred by the consumers.
