However, the role played by fibre-based materials hasadvanced dramatically in recent years. Today, we find almost applicationof every natural & synthetic fibre for medicinal purpose but application ofwool fiber in medical textiles is not yet explored. So, the present paper dealsand explores the medical application & medical uses of wool fiber.


1. INTRODUCTION


Medical textiles are one of the most rapidly expanding sectors inthe technical textile market, according to reports, and hosiery products withmedical industry applications are among a long list of textile products beingconsumed in that market [1]. The term medical textileliterally means textile used for medical purposes. Textile apart from being avital part human life is long since been used in medical field, though the termhas been coined very recently. Textile materials have wide range propertiessuch as flexibility, elasticity, strength etc. Textiles used for medicalpurposes should be non-allergic, non-carcinogenic, non-toxic, antistatic innature, with optimum fatigue endurance, bio-compatibility, flame proof, nonirritant, flexibility and strength. Medicaland related health care, hygiene sectors are an important growing part of thetextile industry.
