Solvay Ventures has made the investment as part of Solvay Group’s research and innovation function. Solvay is a world leader in metal replacement materials.

Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen David Cicilline and Jim Langevin have announced a $125,000 federal grant to develop a composites industry cluster that will support job creation and economic growth in Rhode Island. The grant will help develop a strategic plan to maximise the competitiveness of the local composites industry.

A prototype of a special gas storage tank designed by the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) and DuPont will be on display at the Dayton Marriott. An early version of the compressed gas storage tank will be at display during a national gathering of the Institute for Advanced Composite Manufacturing Innovation, also known as “IACMI.”

The Composite Recycling Technology Centre (CRTC) under a new contract with a national manufacturing institute will pioneer ways to automate processing of carbon fibre composite pre-preg scrap. This technology is essential to process recycled carbon fibre (rCF) in high volumes fulfilling its enormous potential for energy savings and carbon reduction.
