India’s agrotech import soars to ₹159 cr; hometech plummets to ₹82 cr

India's technical textile sector is growing, with a 57 per cent increase in agrotech imports to ₹159 crore and a 24 per cent decrease in hometech imports to ₹82 crore from April to June 2023. Mobiltech imports remained stable. The ITTA reported agrotech and hometech imports at ₹102 crore and ₹108 crore, respectively, in the same period in 2022.

India’s exports of technical textiles rise to $717 mn in Apr-Jun 2023

In the first quarter of fiscal 2023-24, India saw a modest 1 per cent increase in technical textiles exports, raising the total to ₹5,946 crore ($716.9 million). Analysis by the ITTA noted significant growth in several sectors including a 21 per cent increase in mobitech exports and a notable 91 per cent increase in speciality fibre segment.

France’s RecyOuest starts recycling line for agricultural waste nets

RecyOuest, a French green economy company, has successfully started up world’s first recycling line that produces recycling fibres for nonwoven applications from agricultural plastic waste nets. The unique dry-cleaning system of the recycling line was delivered, installed, and commissioned by international technology group Andritz in August 2022.

India’s textile ministry passes 20 research projects worth ₹74 cr

India’s ministry of textiles has cleared 20 strategic research projects worth around ₹74 crore in the areas of agrotextiles, speciality fibre, smart textiles, activewear textiles, strategic application areas, protective gear, and apparel sports textiles on November 1, 2022.
