Continuous Composites, a pioneer in the AM 2.0 industry, has earned a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the Department of Defence. The company will use its patented Continuous Fibre 3D Printing (CF3D) manufacturing process for a DoD multifunctional structural composite application through collaboration with AFRL.

A new European Space Agency study is trying to finds ways to keep spacesuits hygienic. Putting on a spacesuit involves sharing some previously-worn underlayers. A long-underwear-like Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG) is reused by spacewalkers along with the spacesuits themselves. The new study will examine how to keep these items clean.

Continuous Composites, a composites additive manufacturer, is collaborating with Saint-Gobain, a French manufacturer and distributor of high-performance solutions, to advance and certify Continuous Composites’ patented Continuous Fibre 3D Printing (CF3D) for commercial aerospace applications. The two are executing a Joint Development Agreement on this.

Continuous Composites has succeeded in making a Low Cost Attritable Aircraft (LCAA) wing under an Air Force Research Laboratory’s two-year Wing Structure Design for Manufacturing (WiSDM) contract through Lockheed Martin. The project is based on a new structural design paradigm to bring down costs and lead times for attritable airframe structures.
