JEC World 2017 expo attracts visitors in large numbers

JEC World 2017, one of worldwide leading tradefair and gathering for composite professionals, that provides a comprehensive overview of the value chain, from raw-material producers to processors, from processors to users, held from March 14 to 16, 2017, in Paris, ended on a successful note with a 2-digit attendance growth (+10 per cent) this year.

JETCAM launches composite material location software

JETCAM has launched a new software which allows tracking of composite material's location and life. The software, CrossTrack MTL, will help composite manufacturers to recreate their material locations virtually. It is available on a monthly subscription basis. The company is also offering an initial free three-month trial without commitment.

R-Tech invests in Zwick’s composites testing tech

R-Tech Materials’ polymer and composites testing laboratory has invested in a Zwick 250kN universal testing machine – the first of its kind in the UK to run on the latest testXpert III software. The machine is to be aligned to aerospace standards and will enable R-Tech to carry out more complex testing and increase its composites testing capacity.

Evonik & Forward to explore composite solutions in auto sector

Evonik Industries and Forward Engineering have set up a joint venture, Vestaro GmbH to drive forward industrial mass production of fibre composite components for the automotive industry. The joint venture which will be headquartered in Munich, Germany will see Evonik holding 49 per cent of the shares and Forward Engineering 51 per cent.

Porcher Industries, Airbus Helicopters showcase H160

The first cutting-edge civil helicopter with a composite structure, H160, is being showcased at JEC world in Paris. H160 is lighter, more robust and resistant to corrosion and fatigue, and has reduced maintenance needs due to its composite body. The aircraft is the result of collaboration between Airbus Helicopters and Porcher Industries.

A 1.5 megawatt-Atlantis Resources tidal turbine has been installed at the MeyGen site in the Pentland Firth. The AR1500 turbine has hit full power and is already exporting to the grid. Its three rotor blades have been manufactured by AC Marine & Composites. The Pentland Firth is a strait separating Orkney Islands from Caithness in Scotland's north.
