The BioComposites Group (BCG) signed a sales agency agreement with Techstyles Inc., a leading automotive manufacturer's representative based in Bingham Farms, Michigan.

BCG will be manufacturing auto parts that are designed to replace traditional fiberglass auto parts, with lighter natural fibres such as wood, flax and/or hemp resulting in better vehicle fuel efficiency, and sound-dampening qualities. "We are excited about partnering with Techstyles. Their team's connections across the automotive value chain are ideal for bringing our innovative natural fiber mats to the North American automotive industry," said Dan Madlung, CEO of BCG.

Techstyles has operated as a manufacturer's representative for over 30 years specializing in automotive interior applications. "The price volatility of petroleum based products and the auto industry's shift towards lightweight and environmentally friendly parts make BCG products a perfect fit for our portfolio," said Bill Vaughn, CEO of Techstyles. Techstyles continues to promote new technologies with particular emphasis on "green" applications in automotive interiors.

Techstyles will focus on the BCG product line targeted at automotive applications. The products will be marketed under the Fiber510™ brand and include applications such as load floors, package decks, interior door panels, seat backs, and spare tire covers.

BCG plant is scheduled to start manufacturing lightweight mats for automotive parts next summer. It is the first commercial spin-off company from TTS's incubator facility based in Edmonton, AB. With the successful commercialization of engineered fibre mats, TTS is working towards the commercial roll out of its other sustainable green products and technologies. BCG was incorporated in 2010 as a wholly owned division of Tekle Technical Services, Inc. (TTS), with focus on commercializing TTS' engineered fiber mat products. The plant is currently near completion in Drayton Valley, Alberta, with start-up scheduled for the summer of 2013.

Techstyles, Inc. was established in 1980, as a manufacturers' agent emphasizing automotive original equipment applications for textile products.

Incorporated in 1998, TTS is a leading biocomposite products development operation that focuses on applied research and development of natural fiber based products including engineered fiber mats, biocomposite panels, structural insulated panels, fiber cement and fiber plastic. BCG is the first commercial spin-off company from TTS's incubator facility located in Edmonton, AB.
