Netherland based industrial and safety clothing manufacturer Van Puijenbroek Textiel has opened its new plant ‘VPTEX Macedonia’ in the Ilinden industrial zone of the central Balkan country of Macedonia, to manufacture industrial and protective workwear in the nation.

According to a statement issued by the Macedonian Government, the Dutch company has invested € 2 million for the construction of the new facility, and has already employed fifty people in its first production line. The company would be employing fifty more people next month, during the opening of its second production line.

The Minister of Transport and Communications of Macedonia Mile Janakieski said the job openings were of exceptional significance for the Macedonian Government, and it is also important that the company is export oriented.

According to the Minister, the investment of the Dutch company represents another confirmation of the Dutch investors’ belief in Macedonia’s favorable business environment.

Rob Kwaspen, managing director Van Puijenbroek Textiel, said the new plant represented a continuation of the firm’s traditional partnership with the Macedonian market, where it has been present for 45 years.

The purpose of the VPTEX plant is to meet the expectations of the Macedonian consumers and the firm is also planning to open sales offices, renting and cleaning professional clothing, as the goal is to not only create an environment of efficient manufacturing of the Dutch company’s clothing in Macedonia, but also its distribution in the country, making it a well-known brand, he added.

Dutch ambassador to Macedonia Marriet Schuurman said the new facilities illustrated the Netherlands’ entrepreneurial spirit and innovations, hoping it would attract many other investments.
