Freudenberg & Vilene Nonwovens have begun commercial production for car headliners at their Suzhou facility in China, which will enable the company to meet increasing demand for quality car roof linings in Asia. Freudenberg & Vilene Nonwovens is a joint venture between Germany based Freudenberg Performance Materials and Japan Vilene Company.

The car headliners are nonwovens based and can be finished in various ways to provide additional functionality, while being produced using a proportion of recycled products.

According to the company, apart from excellent abrasion resistance, outstanding acoustic properties and improved stain resistance, these products contribute to a marked reduction in vehicle weight when combined with other vehicle components.

“The expansion of our activities in China underlines our expertise in automotive headliners. This move will also further underscore our position as a leading and reliable partner for our customers,” CEO at Freudenberg Performance Materials, Bruce Olson said.

Apart from products for car interiors, Freudenberg & Vilene's product portfolio includes industrial nonwovens for the apparel industry, industrial ventilation and other technical applications. (AR)
