German institute hosts symposium on technical textiles

The Institute for Textile and Leather Technology of Reichenbach (ITL), in the German city of Zwickau, recently held its 17th technical textiles symposium for its students to understand the essentials of functionalism in the technical textiles sector.
 
According to a statement issued by the institute, the symposium, held under the theme ‘Functionalization of Textiles—Products and Processes’ was organized with the intention of providing technical knowhow regarding different theoretical and practical ways to implement functionalization in technical textiles sector.
 
Over 50 participants, including professors and students of the institute, as well as industry leaders from the sector, attended the symposium, constituting of eight different segments of discussions on various topics related to the technical textiles sector.
 
The symposium was bifurcated into two main sections Textiles Formation and Finishing of Technical Textiles Fabrics. 
 
Under the Textiles Formation segment, participants discussed methods for incorporating fluid-carrying tubes, optical fibers and electrically conductive threads as well as illuminated films, whereas, under the Finishing of Technical Textiles Fabrics, new insights into the functionalisation of the sector were presented by means of lamination, coating and finishing.
 
The ITL is one of the many institutes under the multidisciplinary educational University of Zwickau. The institute is a training facility for entrepreneurs and workers operating in the textiles sector.
