Greycon suite solves difficult trim problems 20% faster

Greycon, a world leader in scheduling and execution for the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, has chosen Gurobi as the optimiser for their new Greycon Suite version 8.0 and GreyconMill release 2.5SR2, which were released on 14th February.

The new release's main highlight is the reduction in the time taken to solve difficult trim problems by an average of more than 20% compared to previous versions. This performance increase is due to the adoption of the Gurobi mathematical optimisation library.

This increase in speed applies to all trim optimisation engines across the Greycon suite of products, including X-Trim, opt-Studio and GreyconMill.

The work we did for the 8.0 release was complex and painstaking, but greatly facilitated by the excellent Gurobi support team. In this manner we gain the trust of the customers we serve: in some markets customer adoption of X-Trim is reaching saturation levels. We estimate that more than 75 percent of packaging paper production in North America is optimised by X-Trim."
