Gurit appoints Laurent Michaux as GM for composites

Gurit, manufacturers of advanced composite materials, has announced the appointment of Laurent Michaux as the general manager for composite components and member of the executive committee, effective May 1, 2015.

Laurent Michaux has leadership experience, including proven knowledge and broad automotive industrial experience in an international business environment. He will report to Rudolf Hadorn, chief executive officer of Gurit, the company said in a statement.

Michaux joins Gurit from Faurecia, where he holds the position of group customer strategy vice president and SAS Automotive Systems (a 50/50 joint venture between Faurecia & Continental) board director. Prior to this, he served as interior systems sales, marketing & business development vice president and as general manager for France/UK at SAS Automotive Systems.

Michaux holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Arts et Métiers Engineering School, Paris as well as a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Sciences Po, Paris.

Rudolf Hadorn said, “The appointment of Laurent puts an expert with in-depth knowledge of the industry at the helm of Gurit Composite Components. This step will enable us to gain further momentum for our growth strategy and to leverage our position in the land transportation market.”

The company’s comprehensive product range comprises fibre reinforced prepregs, structural core products (man-made materials and balsa wood), gel coats, adhesives, resins and consumables. The global group has production sites and offices in Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, the UK, Canada, the USA, Brazil, Ecuador, Australia, New Zealand, India, and China. (GK)
