The two global nonwoven trade associations, EDANA and INDA, concluded the first-ever OUTLOOK Plus Latin America conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a positive feedback from its participants.

It was a comprehensive conference programme with networking activities to encourage interaction among more than 250 participants and 20 companies, who declared the event a valuable chance to bring the global industry together at the heart of Latin America, INDA reported.

Opening the conference, keynote presenter Roberto Macedo, Ph.D., outlined the global and regional economic prospects for the Mercosul Region (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela). With the first two days of the conference spent on examining market, product, and technology intelligence for hygiene and personal care, the third day focused on durable nonwoven applications and future opportunities.

Pierre Wiertz, general manager of EDANA said, “Many of the speakers agreed in their description of exciting market opportunities, illustrating the diversity of the Latin American markets, which is well understood by participants in the supply chain. EDANA is pleased to help the industry to make the best of those opportunities and continue to cater to the diversity of consumer needs in both single-use and durable nonwoven applications.”

Dave Rousse, president of INDA said, “The turnout from Latin America has exceeded our expectations and the quality of the questions and discussions indicates that the speaker line-up and program content successfully met the needs of this important market in our Western Hemisphere.”

EDANA serves more than 240 companies across 32 countries in the nonwovens and related industries, helping its members to design their future.

INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, serves hundreds of member companies in the nonwovens/engineered fabrics industry in global commerce. (GK)
