India's share in US nonwoven imports slips in 2013

India had a measly share of just 3.47 percent in calendar year 2012, which further slipped to 2.96 percent in 2013, in overall global imports of nonwoven fabrics by USA.

The total global import of non-woven fabrics by US in 2012 stood at US $1013.91 million and $1120.64 million in 2013.

On the other hand, China had a share of 17.08 percent and 18.02 percent in 2012 and 2103 respectively, in US nonwoven fabric imports, as per information on the PIB website.

In 2012, US imports of nonwoven fabrics from India stood at US $35.19 million and in 2013 it fell to $33.21 million.

While, US nonwoven fabrics imports from China grew from $173.20 million in 2012 to $201.91 million in 2013.

After China, India has the second biggest textile industry in the world, despite which growth and production of nonwoven fabrics has not developed akin to US, Germany and China.
