Kordsa Global bags best 'R&D Center' of the year award

Turkey based Kordsa Global was awarded the best ‘R&D Center’ of the year award at Private Sector R&D Centers Summit and Exhibition by the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology.

“The company’s R&D Center was also awarded the first rank in the textile category for the third time,” Kordsa Global said in a press release.

In all, the Turkish producer of nylon and polyester yarns, cord fabric and single end cord bagged two awards at the event.

Kordsa Global CEO Cenk Alper said, “We are proud to be ranked the number-1 R&D Center in Turkey as there is an intense competition amongst all R&D centers.”

“Kordsa Global’s R&D Center collaborates with universities both in Turkey and abroad to maintain its technology leadership,” he added.

“Technology licensing is one of our main subjects since ‘open innovation’ concept is the baseline of our R&D approach,” Alper informed.

“We will export technology not only to our own partners but also to our competitors as we believe this to be an important step for Kordsa and Turkey,” he observed.

According to Kordsa Global, it develops processes and technologies at Kordsa Global R&D Center for tire reinforcement, new composite products and the construction reinforcement market.

“The majority of our R&D activities aim to bring new technology and competencies to the industry and our R&D Center employs 78 brilliant minds which helps spread our technology from Turkey to the world,” it added.

The company further added that its portfolio of international patent applications has reached 236 and it climbed four ranks in the Turkish Patent League and honour of taking the sixth place in the first six months of 2015.

Kordsa established its Composite Reinforcement Business Unit in April 2014 and in December 2014; it broke ground for its Composite Technologies Center of Excellence in Istanbul.

The company will be developing and producing composite products, which are used in aerospace, sports, automotive, marine and construction. (AR)
