Austria’s nonwoven producer, Lenzing, in collaboration with Nox-Bellcow (NBC), manufacturers of facial masks in China, recently presented the Tencel Skin, tailor-made fibre for cosmetic facial masks at the ANEX nonwovens trade fair in Shanghai, held from May 13 to 15, 2015.

Tencel Skin is produced in Austria according to extremely high hygienic quality standards and is intended for use in cosmetics. In 2012, the fibre was presented on the Asian market and since then it has been able to make a name for itself in high-quality facial masks.

The special product properties of the fibre, such as its strength and suppleness, allow the production of a facial mask in which the support material is purely of Tencel Skin and is pleasant and silky on the skin. The perfect lotion management is another important feature which is ideal for cosmetic facial masks, Lenzing explains in a press release.

Elisabeth Stanger, global director BD hygiene at Lenzing said, “We are very satisfied with the growth of Tencel Skin. It shows that customers recognize the uniqueness of Tencel Skin and no longer wish to do without it in their daily skin care. The fibre offers many advantages such as suppleness and transparency on the skin and both of these properties are particularly important for Asian customers.”

The Tencel Skin fibre is medically tested and has a lot of environmental labels and raw material certifications. Ecocert, a certification for organic cosmetics, is especially for the cosmetic segment.

Lenzing and NBC have been in a strategic partnership in China facial mask market since 2013. At global level, NBC is a successful producer of cosmetic products in the ODM sector.

Lenzing’s Tencel is made from wood pulp, a renewable raw material, which is then processed through a closed loop system to create an ecologically responsible fibre. (GK)
