MANN+HUMMEL, the filtration expert from Germany, has opened its Chongqing plant, the sixth in China for the company, at an investment of more than RMB 30 million.

The new plant, which started production in June, is expected to better satisfy the demand of customers from Southwest China, providing them with convenient access to high-quality filtration products and service, including products for car manufacturers, as well as commercial vehicle and engine applications. In addition to supporting the development of local and global customers with automotive production based in Southwest China, the plant gives MANN+HUMMEL an expanded geographical footprint to sharpen its competitive edge in the industry.

The 10,000-square metre plant has perfected its quality control and delivery control processes to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products. The plant mainly produces intake manifolds, air filter systems including ducts for passenger vehicle manufacturers with an annual output estimated to reach two million units. Among the customers being served are Changan Ford and Changan Suzuki, as many of their car models use the air filter systems and intake manifolds produced in the Chongqing plant, according to a press release.

Josef Parzhuber, MANN+HUMMEL's Group vice president and CEO for Asia-Pacific said, “The completion of the Chongqing plant is a significant milestone for MANN+HUMMEL to further grow our OEM business with vehicle manufacturers based in South-western China. Chongqing is among the top automotive clusters in China and we need to be there to make our leading filtration technology accessible to our global and local key customers that have set up a production base in or near Chongqing.”

The Group's product portfolio includes air filter systems, intake manifold systems, liquid filter systems, cabin filters and sound-design components called symposer, as well as filter elements for motor vehicles maintenance. (GK)
