NITRA Co-hosts Conference & Workshop on Technical Textiles

NITRA, in association with PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore organized a national conference on Technical Textiles - Protech & Indutech on 24th January 2012 at the PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. In another occasion, on 25th January 2012 NITRA in association with Jaya Engineering College, Chennai, organized a workshop on Technical Textiles - Protective Textiles at JEC Auditorium, Chennai.

The focus on both the events was Industrial and Protective Textiles, a wider category of Technical Textiles. Today Technical Textiles holds an immense scope for the developing world in terms of employment generation, new industrialization, carrying out research, developing new products, and tapping export potential. Since technical textiles research in India is now at a growing stage, both these conference and workshop in the southern part of the country, provided a national platform for product development through the knowledge and technology sharing. The events also created awareness amongst the participants that included technical personnel from textile industry, aspiring entrepreneurs, consumers/business personnel in this field, academicians and students from Textile & Nonwoven Institutes and Research Associations, about the importance of research in this area.

All the technical sessions of these events consisted of invited lectures by eminent speakers, and oral and poster presentations by renowned researchers. Notable amongst the research scientists who made presentations in these events were Dr. J. V. Rao, Director, NITRA, Ghaziabad, Mr. A. K. Agarwal, Dy, Director, NITRA and Dr. M. S. Parmar, Astt. Director, NITRA and eminent scientists from Freudenberg Nonwovens, Bangalore, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and Jaya Engineering College, Chennai.
