Nonwovens Institute adds Tom Daugherty as deputy director

The Nonwovens Institute (NWI), the world's first accredited academic program for the interdisciplinary field of engineered fabrics based in North Carolina, has appointed Tom Daugherty as deputy director. Daugherty has a background in R&D with a proven track record of leading and managing innovative organisations, and in delivering innovation.

Tom Daugherty has earlier served on the INDA board of directors from 2007 to 2009 and as an INDA executive committee member since 2010.

He has also served on the NWI executive committee since 2003, was the chairperson from 2006-2008 and also as the NWI Scientific Advisory Board chair since 2010.

As deputy director, Daugherty will oversee the core research programs, will work with faculty to formulate the research agenda for NWI and will help build strategic alliances with many of its industry partners. (AR)
