The promotion of sustainable items would replace other materials with nonwovens, according to an expert.

Even during times of economic slowdown, issues related to environment did not vanish and once the economies revive, sustainability will again hog into the limelight, Dr. George Kellie, Director of the Kellie Solutions, said at a recent conference.

Dr. Kellie said nonwovens can be recycled or recovered, and hence they offer light weighting solutions, especially in packaging applications. This, along with the ease in product personalization, will drive nonwovens market.

He said spunbound materials that account for more than 50 percent of all packaging nonwovens have durability, and are also strong with isotropic properties.
