Technical Absorbents will be sponsoring a project for Couture in Orbit, an initiative launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) to create collection of garments inspired by space.

Couture in Orbit invites students of the most prestigious fashion design schools in Paris, London, Milan, Copenhagen and Berlin to create garments inspired by space using ESA technologies, but is designed to be worn every day on Earth.

Technical Absorbents has supplied a range of super absorbent fabrics, containing its Super Absorbent Fibre technology (SAF), which has been used as part of some of the creations.

From tracking the wearer's movement and generating usable electricity, to regulating their temperature and transpiration, each school is designing and creating clothes integrating these technologies.

“This has been a fantastic project to be a part of. Seeing how people have taken our materials and used them has been fascinating. We look forward to joining the runway event in London, “said Mark Paterson, product development director.

Each school has its own sponsors to supply state-of-the-art technology and textiles for the new garments. The final runway show will be held in London on May 25, 2016. It will provide opportunities to explore how wearable technology and intelligent fabrics can be used in our lives today and in the future. (HO)
