Texel’s contest entry introduced the Ecoduo line of products, made from 95% recycled or regenerated fibres.

The nonwoven products are the main component in chair floor protectors and subfloors.

Having manufactured the products for several years from new materials, Texel was able to develop an entirely new, much more environmentally friendly line without comprising either the performance or the appearance of the final result when compared to the original.

Texel also reworked other aspects of its product, eliminating the use of LDPE plastic wrap in its new packaging and phasing out the cardboard tubing used to transport the rolls.

“The project inspired a lot of internal reflection that has now opened the way for further development initiatives in ecological product design, in line with Texel’s objective to show its commitment to social responsibility,” remarked François Bourgault, Marketing Director, at the awards evening in Montreal on June 4.
