TFP Inc., speciality wet-laid nonwoven manufacturer, will be exhibiting its Tecnofire range of fire protection materials at the AIA Convention and Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, from May 14 to 16, 2015.

Tecnofire intumescent materials provide highly effective fire protection solutions for a broad range of applications, including composite fabrications and construction gap filling. Tecnofire is a range of products manufactured from high temperature mineral fibres, exfoliating graphite, a small amount of organic binder and, in some cases, active ingredients such as ATH. The solution works by expanding unidirectionally up to 35 times its original thickness when exposed to fire or temperatures in excess of 190°C and produces a thick insulative char. This stabilised char significantly reduces the rate of degradation of the underlying materials by insulating them from the heat energy, TFP said in a statement.

Tecnofire is readily used in an array of applications requiring gap filling fire protection such as fire doors, ventilation grilles or glazing seals, as well as being incorporated as a permanent integral fire protection layer at the surface of a composite structure. Tecnofire has been Intertek certified as part of a fire door assembly and has been employed effectively in composite buses, trains and bridges as well as in the building industry as part of structural panels or facades.

Utilising extensive materials knowledge within polymers, particulates, and speciality fibres together with high specification lamination, metal fibre coating and nonwoven manufacturing and converting capabilities, TFP provide a wide range of customised solutions for automotive and aerospace markets.
