Smithers Apex is pleased to announce the dates for Smart Fabrics 2013, the only Smart Fabrics event on two continents: Where fashion, technology, & electronics intertwine. The 9th annual event will take place in San Francisco, CA from April 17-19, 2013 at the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf. Smart Fabrics will have a sister conference in Barcelona, Spain from October 29-31, 2013.

This year's conference will include sessions on the culture of innovation in organizations general dynamics, effective teams & work styles in innovation; military end uses: research turned into projects; latest developments in E-Textiles; perspectives from the brand owners on what they want from smart fabrics; and how design, technology development and end products can be integrated better?

“The Smart Fabrics conference has housed an innovative, entrepreneurial, and visually stimulating atmosphere each year in the past; and 2013 will not disappoint,” says Smithers Apex's Conference Director Barbara Fowler, “with the help of the advisory board, we are working very hard to secure the best speakers and content with a strong focus on innovation. With an ultra-competitive industry like Smart Fabrics, if you're not moving forward, you're getting left behind, and fast.”

The conference advisory board includes; Stacey Burr, VP Wearable Sports Electronics, Adidas; Hap Klopp, Chairman, Obscura Digital; Kunigunde Cherenack, Research Scientist, Intelligent Textiles Project, Philips Research; Tom Martin, Associate Professor, Virginia Tech; and Patricia Wilson, President and Principal, Fabric Works.

Speaker recruitment for Smart Fabrics 2013 is now underway. Conference dates for Smart Fabrics US in San Francisco are April 17-19, 2013; Conference dates for Smart Fabrics EU in Barcelona, Spain are October 29-31, 2013.
