Umicore to show innovative cobalt-based technology at CE

Umicore introduces ECOS ND15 an innovative cobalt-based technology, developed at the R&D facilities of Umicore, that offers an easy drop-in replacement for traditional accelerators based on cobalt carboxylates.

ECOS ND15 is a sustainable alternative curing technology for unsaturated polyester resins and gelcoats.

ECOS ND15 is a cobalt containing polymer. Though polymers are not subject to REACH registration, a full toxicological study has been carried out by an independent institute, that has shown that ECOS ND15 is a non hazardous substance for all endpoints tested.

Umicore produces ECOS ND15 at its factory in Bruges, Belgium.

ECOS ND15 allows polyester and gelcoat producers to substitute their toxic accelerators by a harmless substance, on a one-to-one basis, without the need to adapt anything else in their formulations.
