The recently held Techtextil North America trade show witnessed visitor numbers soaring 39 per cent over the previous edition held in California in 2013.

The Techtextil North America show co-located event with JEC Americas attracted 2,821 visitors from around the world, up 39 per cent over the 2013 show.

According to a press release from the organisers, Messe Frankfurt, the show space nearly doubled over 2013 and exhibitor numbers also surged 96 per cent to 145, who came from 18 countries.

“The two in one event resulted in a dynamic synergy, creating the largest technical textiles, nonwovens, textile machinery, composites show in the United States during 2015,” Messe Frankfurt said.

A three-day symposium too was held concurrently with the show and had 10 sessions with 33 industry expert presentations.

Topics covered included new fibre developments, protective textiles, medical textiles, aerospace, tensile structures, nonwoven advancements, smart textiles, raw materials and sustainability.

“The symposiums received high marks and many were standing room only and visitors had the opportunity to interact with the presenters during Q&A,” it added.

"The sessions were simply fantastic, as we had a full house all the time, with some people standing in the back during some sessions,” moderator Dr. Pourdeyhimi, executive director at the Nonwovens Institute said.

“Some of the speakers I invited were first-time speakers for Techtextil, and our speakers were incredibly impressed with the organisation and professionalism,” he too added.

“Techtextil North America embraces multiple disciplines in the technical textiles markets,” Mary Lynn Landgraf, senior international trade specialist, OTEXA, US Department of Commerce said.

“It offers visual confirmation of innovation at its accompanying trade show, while sparking ideas and project proposals during the concurrent Symposia,” Landgraf informed.

Scott Carroll from JX Nippon ANCI stated, “The Techtextil North America Symposiums in Houston were outstanding, as each session was very informative.”

Exhibitor Fernando Merino from ERT said, “We are here to promote automotive solutions and we have made lots of contacts with Latin American visitors and those from New York too.”

Karl Kitze from KSL/DAP America Inc added, “We have had a bunch of new customers interested in our textile machines that we are showing at Techtextil North America.”

“The past two days have been good and we have gained new welding customers. We will definitely be back next year in Atlanta exhibiting in the German Pavilion,” Kitze observed.

"Techtextil North America in Houston has produced quality leads and contacts and we will be back in Atlanta in 2016,” another exhibitor Greg Braxton from Zimmer Austria informed.

The 13th edition of Techtextil North America will be co-located with Texprocess Americas and JEC Americas and will be held from May 3-5, 2016. (AR)
