W. L. Gore & Associates, the world's renowned developer of waterproof breathable fabric 'Gore-Tex', has officially opened its refurbished manufacturing facility at Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland.

The Gore-Tex plant, established in 1984, has been revamped with investment of £5 million to make it environment-friendly by reducing energy consumption by nearly 25 percent.

Other than the newly renovated plant, the company operates two more Gore-Tex factories in Scotland itself.

The company manufactures high-performance protective fabrics for military, emergency services and work wear sectors and employs a total number of 700 people in research, development and manufacturing roles in all the three existing units in Scotland.

Headquartered in Newark, W. L. Gore & Associates is a privately held American manufacturing company that specializes in products derived from fluoropolymers.
