Zircotec named as finalist for automotive innovation award

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has announced the shortlisted entries for its Award for Automotive Innovation 2013 and Zircotec is extremely proud to be nominated for its Coating for Composites technology.

The SMMT Award showcases the UK's capabilities in automotive design and engineering by identifying exceptional innovations that have the potential to transform the industry. Zircotec's project to enable lightweight composites to be used where previously this was not possible was submitted to the judging panel following its first application on a road car, the Aston Martin One-77.

Zircotec has been selected as a finalist alongside five other technologies from leading automotive organisations including McLaren and Ford. "Zircotec is delighted that the judging panel has selected our technology as a finalist for these awards that the automotive industry truly respects," says managing director Terry Graham.

"Our coating has the opportunity to assist vehicle engineers achieve weight, performance and efficiency targets through the use of lightweight materials protected by robust coatings. Our project with Aston Martin has demonstrated we can take this technology from the racetrack to the road."
