Plastics Technology Centre, AIMPLAS, a Spain based research organisation, has initiated the project – Resipet – in collaboration with Barpimo, a Spain based varnishes manufacturer to reuse the used PET packages which is difficult to recycle, according to AIMPLAS's recent statement.

Recycling of PET packages becomes difficult many times owing to colourants and layers from other materials used on them. The project aims to transform the waste PET packages into other products like polyester resins which can be used in the construction or automotive industry.

Resipet is funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (FEDER) funds and the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness within the National Programme for Research. (MCJ)
