Swedish manufacturer of automotive safety equipment, Autoliv said it will supply replacement airbag inflators to be used by Honda Motor in support of its ongoing initiatives in the US.

In order to be able to meet increased demand, Autoliv will build additional inflator capacity in its existing manufacturing facilities and deliveries are estimated to start after a period of six months.

According to Autoliv, the deal has been signed in order to meet the expanded supply of inflators needed by Honda and is subject to definitive documentation.

Jan Carlson, CEO at Autoliv said, “In the current difficult situation with a very high level of field actions and recalls in the market, we are doing our utmost to support our customers.”

“With quality as our first priority, we are assessing the current and upcoming market needs in order to match our delivery capabilities in the best possible way,” he informed.

Together with its joint ventures, Autoliv has more than 80 facilities with close to 59,000 employees in 29 countries.

In addition, it has ten technical centres in nine countries around the world, with 21 test tracks, more than any other automotive safety supplier. (AR)
