At the recent Kompozyt-expo 2013 in Krakow, Poland, CSV Group Sp. z.o.o was presented with the ‘Best Material’ top award for Scott Bader’s Crestapol 1250LV high performance acrylic resin at an official presentation ceremony on the first day of the show.

The Kompozyt-expo judging panel evaluated a variety of materials and feedstock for the production of composite components being exhibited at this year’s trade fair.

Crestapol 1250LV resin was awarded the top prize in the materials category due to it being a very rapid cure laminate resin which can be processed by closed moulding at room temperatures, which is fully compatible with both glass and carbon fibre reinforcements, as well as having outstanding mechanical performance properties.

The award was accepted on behalf of CSV Group by Przemek Kaminski, the Product Manager responsible in CSV’s Composites Department for technically supporting customers in Poland using Crestapol resins as well as other Scott Bader products; a wide range of composites related materials are nationally distributed by CSV Group throughout Poland.  Mr Kaminski commented: “We were very proud to accept this award from Kompozyt-expo.

“The CSV Composites team decided to submit Crestapol 1250LV for an award based on the positive responses and high level of interest we have had this year for this innovative closed mould resin.  A number of Polish customers traditionally fabricating high performance carbon fibre epoxy parts trialled Crestapol 1250LV and were very impressed. Several of them now see Crestapol as a real alternative to using an epoxy resin.

“One customer specializing in moulding light weight Motorsport FRP body panels has already switched to Crestapol, and we displayed a carbon fibre Crestapol 1250LV racing car nose section closed moulded by them on the CSV stand during the expo.” Crestapol 1250LV can be processed at room temperatures, needing only short periods of moderate post curing to achieve good mechanical properties and high temperature performance.

According to Scott Bader, Crestapol 1250LV provides a cost effective alternative with production benefits to epoxy infusion resin systems, also offering comparable mechanical strength properties and excellent surface finish with minimal print through.

Crestapol 1250LV is an ambient curing urethane acrylate thermosetting resin. The resin was developed by Scott Bader for producing high performance carbon fibre reinforced (CFRP) and glass fibre (GRP) parts by vacuum infusion or resin transfer moulding (RTM). It has processing flexibility to suit different production conditions and requirements.

CSV Group, which has an annual turnover of around € 35 millions, is a leading national distributor in Poland of refinishing paint systems and industrial products, including composite materials.  CSV has been an official distributor for Scott Bader for over seven years, and today has a team of 15 people in the Composites Department.

CSV annually attends the Kompozyt-expo trade fair held in Poland, which is seen as a key show for the Group to promote the wide range of composites related products it distributes for key suppliers such as: Scott Bader, Spheretex, SGL, Nidaplast, Krosglass and Formax.

The Kompozyt-expo, now in its fourth year, has continued to grow internationally as a dedicated trade fair in Central and Eastern Europe for high-tech composites, technologies and machinery.   This year it attracted over 170 exhibitors from across Europe and globally.
