US-based firm, Cytec, active in chemicals, polymers and additives for a wide range of industries, is exhibiting its technology developments and investments for automotive and tooling applications, at the ongoing Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) 2015 expo, at Baltimore.

Cytec is promoting the innovations made by the firm, along with its supply chain partners, that have helped high rate CFRP parts manufactures for serial automotive applications in automation, rapid-cure prepreg and HP-RTM, press-moulding and industrial textiles.

The company is showing its ground-breaking DForm fabric tooling prepreg. DForm combines short fibre conformability with the handling and laminate characteristics of a conventional long fibre composite. Saving 75 per cent of lay-up and debulk time and offering four times greater output from current lay-up staff, DForm Fabric Tooling prepreg will revolutionize the composite tooling manufacture while bringing a significant cost reduction, Cytec said in a press releasee.

Glade Gunther, US-based business development manager for Cytec said, “We are working with the automotive supply chain to develop materials, processes and application engineering to increase the affordability of continuous fibre composites for high volume production.”

Cytec provides advanced composite and process materials for aerospace, automotive, wind energy, motorsport, marine, mass transportation, and other demanding applications. (GK)
