Fiberline Composites, Denmark's leading manufacturers of advanced composites, has set up a joint venture with one of the world's leading carbon fibre manufacturers, the Japanese global industrial giant, Mitsubishi Rayon. The new company will pave the way for longer and more efficient wind turbine blades, in order to cut down the cost of wind energy.

Fiberline Composites is an experienced manufacturer of carbon fibre components for advanced wind turbine blades. Mitsubishi Rayon, which is a part of Mitsubishi Chemicals, is an experienced mass producer of industrial carbon fibres. Together they have created a joint company that can offer competitive carbon fibre components to wind turbine makers via a closely integrated supply chain, and thereby, help the industry realise the goal of reducing the price of wind energy.

The new company will be based at Fiberline Composites' existing factory in central Denmark close to the E20 motorway. The agreement and the new company are expected to contribute to increased growth and earnings in the Fiberline Group, and thereby, also increase the number of jobs at the company's Danish factory.

Fiberline's CEO Peter Thorning said, “By combining our competences, we and Mitsubishi Rayon will together be able to provide the industry with large volumes of carbon fibre components for advanced wind turbine blades and deliver even better balance between price, quality and security of supply. We are proud that Mitsubishi Rayon has chosen us as a partner.”

Mitsubishi Rayon's chief executive Masayoshi Ozeki said, “Mitsubishi Rayon is satisfied that their chosen partner brings the competence and track record on industrial scale to produce high performance laminates for the increasingly important pultrusion technology. We are looking forward to this closer cooperation with great pleasure.” (GK)
