INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, announced the names of four finalists to compete for the prestigious World of Wipes Innovation Award. The annual award recognizes the product that most expands the use of nonwovens and demonstrates creativity, novelty, uniqueness and technical sophistication within the entire nonwoven wipe value chain.

All finalists will present their products and the award winner announced during the World of Wipes (WOW) International Conference June 2-5, at The Depot Renaissance Hotel, Minneapolis, MN.

The INDA Technical Advisory Board, INDA’s President, Technical Director and industry members from the wipes market segment selected these product finalists among a dozen international product nominations:

-New Flushable Substrate Patterning Process, from Andritz
A new patterning process applies a special and unique artwork onto flushable wipes allowing wipes producers to differentiate their product and show the correct disposal method with consumer friendly branding. The company says the key value proposition is that the process adds a pattern without increasing fiber bonding, thus facilitating wet-strength release when flushed.

-MINWAX Wood Finishing Cloths, from Pacon Manufacturing Corp.
A do-it-yourself game-changer: New Minwax Wood Finishing Cloths are a new way to stain and finish wood. Minwax Wood Finishing Cloths take the convenience of a one-step wiping stain and finish to a new level. The company promises everything the consumer needs for fast, easy one-step wood finishing is included in one handy package – even plastic gloves. Brushes and experience are not required.

-New Nice-Pak Moist Flushable Wipe, from Nice-Pak Products, Inc.
Nice-Pak Products announces the launch of the first commercial, moist flushable wipe made with a breakthrough manufacturing technology that uses 100 percent plant-based fibers. Nice-Pak’s commitment to innovation and product excellence is realized with this breakthrough moist flushable wipe that addresses the market's need for a 100 percent plant-based product. The company says the product delivers consumer-preferred strength while requiring less energy to disperse.

-Sertun Rechargeable Sanitizer Indicator Towels, from ITW Professional Brands
An innovative, game changing, nonwoven rechargeable food service towel indicates when the towel is cleaning.  Sertun Rechargeable Sanitizer Indicator Towels will take the guesswork out of sanitizing. Food service professionals can be sure they’re effectively sanitizing any surface with revolutionary Color Check Technology built into every Sertun Towel.

Each finalist will each give a 10-minute morning presentation Wed., June 4 with attendees casting their votes afterwards. The recipient of the 2014 World of Wipes Innovation Award will be announced Thurs., June 5 morning during the conference.
