International conference to boost industrial textiles

Considering the fact that industrial textiles are not getting due importance in Indian context, Departments of Textile and Fashion Technology, Department of Automobile Engineering of PSG College of Technology and PSG Institute of Advanced Studies in association with Office of Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, are organizing a two-day international conference on industrial textiles from August 3.

The conference aiming at focusing on products, applications and prospects of industrial and smart textiles would showcase the key innovations and opportunities transpiring out of academic and industrial research in the field.

Being a potential field, industrial textiles presents the textile industry with newer ways, means and prospects for sustaining the current growth and flourishing in times to come.

The conference 'Industrial Textiles Products, Applications and Prospects InduTech 2012', would extend a platform to discuss current trends, creating awareness in the area and to identify the potential opportunities in industrial and smart textiles.

Industrial textiles also called technical textiles hold an immense scope for the developing world in terms of products, employment, new industry, research and exports.

To be inaugurated by Secretary, Union Ministry of Textiles, Kiran Dhingra, the conference is being organized as a part of activities of the Centre of Excellence on Industrial Textiles.

According to a release, several experts in the field from countries like Germany, China, Czech Republic, Japan, the USA and the Netherlands are likely to participate in the event.
