Kordsa expands its competencies in thermoplastic prepregs

Kordsa, a Turkey-based global player of tire, construction reinforcement and composites technologies market, has announced the launch of its woven based thermoplastic prepreg products as sheets with maximum dimensions of 1.2 metre x 1.2 metre. According to Kordsa, Prepreg is a reinforcing tape or a reinforcing fabric pre-impregnated with a resin system. 
 
Kordsa serves to the composite industry manufacturing epoxy, hybrid, cyanate ester, polyvinyl butyral (PVB), phenolic and modified phenolic prepregs with different reinforcement matrices such as carbon, glass, aramid and hybrid. Since 2015, the company has been working on feasible thermoplastic prepreg production technology and launched its woven based polypropylene and polyamide thermoplastic prepreg products as sheets. The resin systems were specially formulated by Kordsa.
 
The article in the Reinforcer magazine by the project leader Elçin Çakal Saraç, PhD, describes Kordsa focuses on automotive and industrial applications to increase fuel efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and production cycle time in collaboration with project partners.
