Netherlands-based Rivertex Technical fabrics Group has introduced Rivercyclon, a non-toxic, recyclable, lightweight and cost-effective alternative to PVC coated fabrics. It is made from a single polymer that contains no plasticisers or other toxins and can be fully recycled. Rivercyclon is up to 40 per cent lighter than PVC coated alternatives.

Additionally, Rivercyclon has great welding strength and high UV resistance. Rivercyclon is available in widths up to 320 cm and competitively priced, the company said in a media release.

The versatility and low price of PVC coated fabrics have made them popular solutions for a wide range of applications. However, soft PVC coating includes harmful, toxic plasticisers which are released over the entire lifespan of the fabric. Then, at the end of its life, PVC coated fabrics end up in incinerators or are dumped in landfill releasing more harmful substances into the environment, the release added.

Rivertex Technical Fabrics Group was established in 1980 and is a leading manufacturer and supplier of coated and laminated fabrics and films.
