Oerlikon commissions Airlaid Web Forming line at Avintiv

Oerlikon Neumag said it has commissioned an Airlaid Web Forming System for the production of hygiene airlaid nonwovens at Avintiv, formerly called Polymer Group in the US.

According to an Oerlikon press release, the system operated under stable conditions, with expected web quality within an assembly period of just three months and a subsequent three-week commissioning phase.

Hartmut Claussen, head of project engineering at Oerlikon Neumag said, “It was thanks to the close collaboration between both parties and acting as one team which helped us reach our common targets.”

Neumag has added a second airlaid system for high-quality hygiene webs at Avintiv, which is one of the world's largest producers of nonwoven applications for hygiene, medical and cleaning applications.

Oerlikon Neumag is a division of the Oerlikon Group, a leading globally-active technology group supplying growth markets with market-leading technologies and services.

These include; for surface solutions, systems for manufacturing manmade fibres, transmission systems and drive solutions as well as pre-vacuum and high vacuum technologies and pumps and corresponding accessories.

Oerlikon has in excess of 15,500 employees who are present at more than 200 sites in 36 different countries and in 2014, achieved sales of CHF 3.2 billion.

The company, which invested CHF 121 million in research and development in 2014, employees more than 1,300 specialists for developing innovative and customer-oriented products and services. (AR)
