Global Nonwovens to setup first-of-its-kind plant in India

India-based – Global Nonwovens Ltd is setting up a global scale first-of-its-kind spunmelt plant in India, which is expected to begin commercial production in the second quarter of 2014.



“We are sourcing a Reicofil-4 line from a German company – Reifenhauser. The first phase of the plant will have a capacity of 18,000-20,000 tons per annum and we plan to produce spunbond and spunmelt fabrics mainly for the medical and hygienic segments”, he informed.

When asked about their markets, he said, “Currently most of the diaper producers in India are importing the fabrics. We plan to be an alternate domestic source for these companies. However since the installed capacity is high, we will also be exporting the fabrics to various countries”.

Informing about the inspiration behind setting up a technical textiles plant despite not having any exposure to the textile industry in the past, he said, “The main reason being that the technical textiles industry is a highly promising sector on a take-off stage in India. Secondly, there are no producers in India supplying quality hygienic nonwoven fabrics.”
