PolyOne Corporation, in response to growing customer demand for metal replacement is expanding capacity for its OnForce LFT long fibre specialty thermoplastics.

“A new, dedicated specialty production line will be added at the company's existing Avon Lake, Ohio, production facility and will be fully operational by the end of February 2015,” a press release reveals.

“PolyOne's robust glass and carbon fibre-filled formulations retain aesthetic appeal in metal replacement and structural applications, while also offering higher stiffness, impact strength and surface finish than short-fibre filled materials,” it said.

"PolyOne has a proven track record of innovating and collaborating with our customers to develop specialty formulations that meet their specific performance needs," Craig Nikrant, president, Global Specialty Engineered Materials said.

He added, "This investment is aligned with current megatrends to better serve our customers in North America across several industries, including transportation, consumer, and oil and gas."

PolyOne Corporation, with 2014 revenues of $3.8 billion, is a premier provider of specialised polymer materials, services and solutions. (AR)
