SCA to acquire BSN Medical for €2,740 million

Swedish hygiene products producer SCA is acquiring BSN Medical, manufacturer of wound care, compression therapy and orthopaedic products from private equity group EQT for €2,740 million on a debt and cash free basis. BSN Medical products are sold in more than 140 countries and has production facilities in 11 countries and employs around 6,000 persons.

BSN Medical reported net sales at €861 million, adjusted EBITDA of €201 million and adjusted operating profit of €137 million in 2015.

“The BSN medical acquisition is an excellent strategic fit for SCA supporting our vision to improve well-being through leading hygiene and health solutions, two closely interlinked areas,” Magnus Groth, President and CEO at SCA said. “BSN Medical has leading market positions in several attractive medical product categories and provides a new growth platform with future industry consolidation opportunities.”

BSN Medical is an innovative medical solutions company with well-known brands such as Leukoplast, Cutimed, JOBST, Delta Cast, Delta Lite and Actimove. (AR)
