Encompass Group has unveiled Nova, an efficient patient warming system without noise, air movement or excessive heat. Since Nova warms patients without air movement, it reduces infection risks due to forced air. With no moving parts, the Nova system is silent, creating no additional noise. The Nova blanket is also easy to apply and to keep on patients.

The controller unit is intuitive and simple to operate. Nova banks a patient’s heat before surgery and maintains normothermia throughout the surgical process. The Nova blanket doesn’t emit excess heat, so patients stay warm while clinicians remain cool during surgery. Nova has been designed with both the caregiver and patient in mind. Upper and lower body products are available.

“Years of research and development have led us to effective patient warming with no noise, air movement or excessive heat,” says Eric Howard, vice president and general manager TECHStyles, Encompass Group. “When we say Nova is the next generation of patient warming systems, we’re not just blowing hot air. Nova displaces current technology and helps caregivers eliminate many of the risks and obstacles often associated with forced-air patient warming systems.”

“Patient warming is a proven way to improve patient outcomes, reduce infections, limit hospital stays, improve patient comfort, and reduce the cost of healthcare. The many benefits of maintaining surgical patients’ normothermia are well known. Thirty years ago, Encompass revolutionised patient warming with the original Thermoflect and now with Nova, we’re doing it again,” Howard adds.
