India to host 2nd Global Geosynthetics Summit

India to host the 2nd Global Geosynthetics Summit in New Delhi from 19-20 May 2016, according to the event's website. The summit would be organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and would be supported by ministry of textiles and Indian Technical Textile Associatrion (ITTA).

Addressing India's ambitious infrastructure initiatives, opportunities for geosynthetics, related standards, and gaps to be filled in regulation, the summit would have its focus on three infrastructure sub-sectors, i.e. roads and bridges, railways, and coastal and river protection.

The event will mark the presence of companies like Fibertex Nonwovens, Megaplast, Garware Wall Ropes, academic affiliation by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – Madras and IIT– Delhi.

The previous iteration of the summit was held in September 2014 with the theme “enhancing the application of geosynthetics in infrastructure,” which deliberated on the user's perspectives of its usage for roads, bridges, coastal/river protection, landfill and mining applications. (NA)
