Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company, will be delivering technical presentations about new Fortron PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) productivity and processing properties for automotive applications at the ITB Automotive Engine Air and Cooling Systems 2014 conference on Thursday, June 5 at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel in Novi, Michigan.

Fortron PPS is a semi-crystalline polymer often used to replace metals and thermosets in various automotive, electrical/electronics, aerospace, fluid handling, and industrial and consumer applications.

Using advanced polymer technology and processes, Celanese manufactures Fortron PPS, which is designed to excel at high continuous-use, under-hood temperatures. Fortron PPS offers excellent dimensional stability, inherent flame resistance and broad chemical resistance — including automotive/aircraft fuels and fluids, strong acids and bases (pH 2 to 12) — even at elevated temperatures up to 240 degrees Celsius (464 degrees Fahrenheit).

Visitors can visit Fortron PPS to learn how Celanese develops a leading composite solution that can replace aluminum, steel and die-cast metals and other materials in throttle body valves, crankshaft flanges, water pump housings and impellers, thermostat housings, air management systems, as well as alternative and bio-fuel applications, and hybrid powertrain components.
